About the event

This time, we have a special guest with us, Brian Atkins. Brian is a St. Louis-based illustrator with over a decade of experience penciling, inking, and coloring comics. His creator-owned comic work includes The Family Graves and Final Street, and he is an inker and colorist on G.I. JOE for IDW. Brian is an experienced educator, being the head instructor of Ka-Pow!! The Comic Art Academy, and teaching courses at Webster University. Brian is going to do a brief instructional demonstration, something we can all apply to our practice. We have a big announcement for a very affordable and unique opportunity to learn more from him in the fall, right here with Clever Kaiju.

RSVP's are appreciated but not mandatory. RSVP'ing allows you to join the group forum on our website for discussion and updates on the event. If you need to arrive late or leave early, that is perfectly okay.

Note: bring your own drink/coffee and food/snacks (we may not have any available this time), but we must clean up after ourselves because the venue will need to be clean when it opens to the public at 12 pm.

We do accept donations to help cover the cost of the snacks and coffee we provide, and to be shared with our generous host, Dirk's Tavern.

Schedule

10:00-11:00- Get settled, sketch, network! During this time, expect a quick update from Clever Kaiju, and we may briefly introduce a few artists, and showcase their work.

11:00-11:30- Art demo, talk, or quick lesson/workshop with Brian Atkins, that you are welcome to participate in with your sketchbook and tools of choice.

11:45- Closing and clean up after ourselves
