About
Free intro class for the upcoming Comic Art Visual Storytelling lab with instructor Brian Atkins. This free class is on Sunday, July 21 at 3 pm CST on Zoom, and you have to sign up here to access it. Act fast as space is limited! In this stand-alone session, you will learn how to construct a versatile mannequin figure that you can rotate and position throughout the panels of your comic book in order to work efficiently and draw figures consistently. This is a great entry point for beginners, but can be a great tool for experienced artists to improve upon, as well. About the instructor: Brian Atkins is a St. Louis-based illustrator with over a decade of experience penciling, inking, and coloring comics. His creator-owned comic work includes The Family Graves and Final Street, and he is an inker and colorist on G.I. JOE for IDW. Brian is an experienced educator, being the head instructor of Ka-Pow!! The Comic Art Academy, and teaching courses at Webster University. What to expect: A single 90-minute session, 45 minutes of lecture and 45 minutes of interactive, hands-on drawing, held over Zoom. You will want to have drawing supplies on hand for the interactive, hands-on portion. This session is available free of charge as an introduction to the upcoming Comic Art Visual Storytelling course, in August 2024.
